Interfaith Community Chaplaincy

What is street/community chaplaincy?

Street Chaplaincy is spiritual care offered where it’s least expected: on sidewalks, in jail cells, shelters, encampments, and transitional spaces. It’s rooted in radical compassion, sacred listening, and the belief that everyone is worthy of love, no matter their circumstances.

The greatest harm to the unhoused population is not the lack of resources, convoluted systems of care or systemic oppression; the greatest harm is the abandonment, hatred and judgment we, the larger community, extend towards them. To leave behind those who are most vulnerable, most unique, most diverse, is to leave behind the heart and soul of the community. It is to leave behind opportunities for profound connection, creativity, and holy presence. A Street Chaplain walks into spaces of great human suffering and reminds those lost in its shadows that they are not only beautiful, but honored and important to the whole of the community.

What can I do for you?

I offer an alternative approach to the incredibly hard and important work of serving people experiencing homelessness and deep poverty. Whether you're a church, religious community, government agency, nonprofit, or community organization, I can help bring greater ease, connection, care, and presence to the work you do with clients, neighbors, and parishioners.

Through spiritual care, facilitation, education, and relationship-based support, I help organizations create spaces where people feel seen, heard, and cared for beyond their immediate material needs. Spiritual care is also a valuable tool for staff wellbeing, offering space to process difficult work, build resilience, reduce isolation, and support burnout prevention.

I am a skilled group facilitator, one-on-one spiritual care provider, educator, and consultant, and can work with you to develop programming that responds to the specific needs of your organization, staff, and community.
